APPEARANCES
As a result of two astonishing concerts at the San Sebastian festival in the 1970s, Charles Mingus changed the nature of the festival. In recognition of this, the festival organizers presented a plaque on the wall of their new location, surrounded by magnificent walls from the 17th Century. The Mingus Big Band performed at the San Sebastian Jazz Festival in July 2005, at which time Sue Mingus accepted the honor on behalf of Charles Mingus from festival director Miguel Martin.
